Why it exists

Indian project developers mostly register credits with programmes designed elsewhere, while the domestic Carbon Credit Trading Scheme is only now building its registry. A programme without a working registry is a set of documents: nowhere to validate and publish projects, no unique identity for each credit, no proof that a retirement happened once.

What AMMONIS does

AMMONIS is the system of record for the suite. It runs the project lifecycle from draft to listing to registration, the methodology lifecycle from draft to published version, participant onboarding, and the public record of issuances and retirements. It powers Carbon Registry–India, a domestic programme aligned with the Paris Agreement Crediting Mechanism.

Lifecycle

Gates that carry their evidence

A project moves forward only by submitting the documents its stage needs and receiving a recorded decision. Listing needs the PDD and the stakeholder consultation report; registration needs the validation report.

  • Draft wizard that saves as you go
  • External reviewers approve by secure link
  • A timeline of every decision and who made it

Credits

One credit, one record

Issuances are recorded by vintage and serial range. A retirement can only consume serials that were issued and not already retired, and it carries its beneficiary.

  • Serial ranges per vintage
  • Retirements with beneficiary
  • Transfers in a single ledger

Retired Transferred Held

A serial appears in exactly one issuance and can be retired once.

Methodologies

Open authorship, gated publishing

Anyone can draft a methodology. Registered developers submit it, reviewers comment, the public is consulted, and the registry publishes versioned releases with their sectoral scopes.

How it works

A project, from draft to credits

Step 01 of 06

Draft

The proponent drafts the project; it saves as it goes and receives a project code.

Step 02 of 06

Submit for listing

The PDD and stakeholder consultation report are uploaded and a listing fee is assigned.

Step 03 of 06

Review and list

An external reviewer approves or rejects by link; the registry gives final approval.

Step 04 of 06

Validate and register

The validation report is uploaded and the registration is decided and published.

Step 05 of 06

Issue

After verification, credits are issued by vintage and serial range.

Step 06 of 06

Retire

Retirements consume issued serials and name their beneficiary.

Capabilities

Everything in the box

Who it serves:

  • Project proponents

    Develop and register projects.

  • Validation and verification bodies

    Audit projects under empanelment.

  • Methodology developers

    Write and submit methodologies.

  • Trading organisations

    Hold and move credits.

Vetted participants

Accounts act only after email verification, approval, payment and KYC. Nobody can grant themselves a privileged role.

Gated project lifecycle

Projects move from draft to listed to registered only through stage submissions with the required documents and a recorded decision.

Serialised credits

Every issued unit has a serial that appears in exactly one issuance; a retirement consumes only serials that were issued and not already retired.

Methodology publishing

Anyone may draft a methodology; registered developers submit it and the registry publishes versioned releases.

VVB empanelment

Validation and verification bodies are onboarded and empanelled; external reviewers act by secure link.

Public by default

Registered projects, public documents, issuances and retirements can be read without an account.

Principles

How it keeps its integrity

  • The registry is the source of truth. A chain, a marketplace or a partner may mirror it; none overrides it.
  • Gates carry evidence: every stage has the documents it needs.
  • Decisions are attributable to the person who made them.
  • Nothing is silently rewritten: issuances, retirements and decisions keep their trail.
  • Public by default.

Clear scope

What it isn’t

Not a monitoring tool
Field data and monitoring belong to SONDIS; AMMONIS receives the verified result.
Not a marketplace
Price discovery and buyer journeys belong to VENTIS.
Not a blockchain
A chain may mirror the registry. It is never the record.

Built on

What AMMONIS stands on

The platform underneath, and what the work depends on outside it.

The platform

  • One platform core

The same evidence architecture the rest of the suite runs on: identity, roles, attribution and the audit trail are not rebuilt per product.

  • Serials that cannot be reused

A serial appears in exactly one issuance, and a retirement consumes only serials that were issued and not already retired.

  • Gates that carry evidence

A project changes stage only on a submission with its documents and a decision recorded against the person who made it.

  • Public without an account

Registered projects, public documents, issuances and retirements are readable by anyone.

What it connects to

  • CARTIS methodology rules
  • SONDIS monitoring results
  • VENTIS settlement
  • Paris Agreement (PACM)
  • India CCTS
  • KYC verification
  • Payment verification
